NOVEMBER 15th 2025
Join us at this masterclass to introduce our newest teacher – Zoltan Farkas – as he shows you the power and the majesty of the classical acoustic guitar.
Discover the Classical Guitar with Zoltán Farkas
What can six strings do?
Far more than you might think! From delicate melodies to fiery Spanish rhythms, the classical guitar has a way of surprising people — and on Saturday 15th November, you and your children can discover its magic up close at Firebird Studios.
We’re delighted to welcome Zoltán Farkas, international prize-winning guitarist, teacher, and long-time Bristol resident, for two special showcase sessions (11am & 12pm).
This is not just a performance. It’s a playful, family-friendly journey through music — from centuries-old masterpieces to tunes you might recognise from more modern times. Perfect for curious children, parents, or anyone wondering what’s possible when you pick up a guitar.
Why Come Along?
For children – A chance to see what music can do, and to picture themselves learning it.
For parents – A window into how creative learning can build focus, confidence, and joy.
For families – A Saturday morning with something a little different: a mix of live performance, inspiration, and maybe even the spark of a new hobby.
And if you’re considering joining our Saturday Music Club, this is the perfect taster — a real showcase of the kind of magic that can happen when you learn an instrument.
Meet Zoltán
Zoltán’s journey began in Hungary, where he studied at the Simonffy Emil Music School in Debrecen, earning his diploma in classical guitar. Alongside music, he also completed a degree in Geography (proof that even dedicated musicians can have a “day job subject” in their back pocket!).
By 2002 he was already teaching, and in 2008 he joined the Bristol Spanish Guitar Centre — where he guided students from first-time beginners all the way through to diploma candidates, and organised concerts that brought the local guitar community to life. He later served as Musical Director of the Bristol Classical Guitar Society, cementing his reputation as both a performer and educator.
Most recently, Zoltán completed a Master of Arts in Music Education (Classical Guitar) at the Béla Bartók Faculty of Music in Miskolc, Hungary — graduating with excellent distinction. His studies under respected pedagogue Sándor Papp honed not only his performance but also his teaching philosophy: helping every student find their musical voice.
“Zoltan is an extremely talented musician and teacher, very professional and thorough. Highly recommend if you want to improve your playing!”
— Katharine Culley
What People Say
His students and audiences alike describe him as both inspiring and approachable:
“My technique and musical understanding has vastly improved … His focus is always on bringing out the music in a score … He is a seriously impressive performer as well!!”
— Philip Sheldrake
“He pays great attention not just only to technique and musical understanding but also to the different expression of feelings … how to bring these alive.”
— Ian Williamson
And for those who have seen him perform live:
“Zoltan gave a stunning performance to entertain nearly 100 members of Chepstow U3A … We will certainly be asking him back again.”
— Derek Shottin
