Form a Band. Write a Song. Perform Live.

For ages 10–18 in Bristol | 5-Day Music Camp | Limited Spaces
£250 per week | Early Bird £225 if booked by 1st June

Join us at The Engine Room for a week of experiencing what it’s like to be in a real band –  songwriting, recording and live performance. Whether your child plays guitar, bass, drums, keyboard or sings, they’ll form a band, learn to play a cover song, write an original song, and take the stage in front of an audience.

We’re running two sessions in 2026:

We’ll help form bands of similar ability that enable everyone to get a chance to shine, and guitar players may be asked to try bass if needed (we’ll have the gear ready).

What They’ll Learn

  • How to rehearse like a real band
  • Songwriting with fun, guided prompts
  • Stage presence and performance confidence
  • How to record their music
  • The joy of playing with others

No exams, no pressure — just hands-on music making.

Firebird Studios Summer Rock Camp final performance 2025

Final Gig – Rock Night at The Engine Room

On Friday afternoon, parents and friends are invited to Rock Night — a live showcase where each band performs their songs. We’ll film the whole thing and send you the link.

Theo had an incredible time at the Firebird music camp. It was brilliant for his confidence and he has continued to write music with a child he met on the camp. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Secure Your Spot

Firebird Band Camp is deliberately kept small — just 25 places per week — so that every young musician gets a band where they can genuinely shine.

Because of that, we use a simple two-step process:

  1. Register your interest using the form below — it takes about two minutes
  2. We’ll confirm your place within a week once we’ve matched ability levels and ensured each band is well-balanced

This isn’t a waiting list — it’s us doing the groundwork so your child walks in on day one ready to play with the right people.

Places are limited and filling fast — register now to avoid missing out.

Frequently Asked Questions

What ability level does my child need to be?

To get the most out of Band Camp, we ask that campers have been learning their instrument for at least six months and can play some basic chords or rhythms. The camp is about getting young musicians playing together as a band — it’s not instrument tuition, so a foundation level of playing is needed to dive straight in.

If your child is newer to their instrument, our regular lessons and Saturday Music Club are a brilliant place to start — and Band Camp will still be there when they’re ready.

We welcome everyone from that foundation level right through to advanced players. When you register, we’ll ask about ability so we can put together balanced bands where everyone gets a genuine chance to shine.

My child plays guitar — will they be asked to play something else?

Possibly. We’re typically oversubscribed with guitarists, so we may ask some to try bass guitar instead. All the gear is provided — we just ask you to flag on the form if your child is open to it.

What if my child can't make one of the days?

Drop us a message and we’ll do our best to accommodate. Missing a day is manageable, but the final performance is on Friday and we’d really encourage attendance for that — it’s the highlight of the week.

Is the camp fully supervised?

Yes, throughout. The camp is led by Charlie, a professional musician and owner of Saturday Music Club, and fully supervised at all times. We also collect emergency contact details and any safeguarding information on the registration form.

What about children with additional needs?

We ask about SEN requirements on the registration form so we can plan accordingly. Please do get in touch before registering if you’d like to discuss your child’s needs first — we’re happy to have that conversation.

Can my child come if they've never played with others before?

Absolutely — that’s exactly what the camp is for. Many campers have never been in a band before. By Friday they’ll have written and performed an original song live.

What do they need to bring?

Their instrument, sticks if they’re a drummer, and a packed lunch. We provide all amplification and backline gear.

What do they take home at the end?

A camp T-shirt, a video of their final performance, an audio recording of their original song, a digital certificate, and a folder of photos. All digital items will be delivered via Dropbox link.

How do I know if my child has a confirmed place?

We’ll email you within the week of your registration to confirm. Please check your junk folder if you don’t hear from us.

What's the refund policy if we need to cancel?

Please see our full Terms & Conditions [link to your T&Cs page].
