We are happy to announce that we have received funding from the Arts Council to provide free taster day sessions to allow more children access to the arts and music specifically. We will be running the sessions on Sunday 13th 2021 at 10:30am and 2pm on each date, please let us know which one you’d prefer in the contact form below.
How it works
The session will run for 2 1/2 hours, during which they will have the chance to try out all four of the instruments we offer (guitar, keyboards, drums and violin). Your child will get 30 minutes on each instrument with a half hour break in the middle and at the end of the taster session, they can choose which instrument they would like to continue with a part of our Saturday Music Club.
Once they have chosen, we will then place them in the next available class. These classes take place on Saturday, are small groups of up to 4 children and also last 30 minutes. We follow the Bristol Council school term dates for these classes.
Please bring a snack and a drink for your child to have during their break. You are welcome to leave them with us during their session and collect them at the end, or stay and enjoy our amazing home made cakes and barista style coffees and teas.
Background
As part of our Cultural Recovery Fund application, we highlighted the issue that Brislington as a whole has with a stark lack of activities for children and a satisfaction rating of just 24% from parents living within the area. We want to be a part of a movement that increases choices for parents and gives more people access to a cultural activity for their children.
