The RSL Rockschool syllabus is well-regarded for modern music, covering pop, rock, and contemporary styles from Entry Level to Grade 8. Achieving Grade 6 or above also contributes to UCAS points, which can be helpful for further education.

Chris Langton: The Versatile Performer
Chris Langton is a professional drummer with over a decade of experience, currently performing with Snazzback, a band signed to the Worm Discs label and supported by influential radio figures such as Gilles Peterson and Jamie Cullum. He also plays with a diverse range of artists, including Zoobers (electronica/jazz), Mohammed Errebba (Moroccan Gnawa), and Samantha Lindo (soul/pop). With a background in rock and funk, his playing has expanded to include Latin, jazz, and hip-hop, bringing a broad musical perspective to his teaching. He has performed at notable venues such as Ronnie Scott’s in London and on the Truth Stage at Glastonbury, and this professional experience informs a practical, engaging teaching style.
AJ Rousell: The Educator and Author
AJ Rousell is a professional drummer, educator, and author with a deep commitment to drumming education. He is the founder of The Drummer’s Odyssey Camp, an immersive experience for drummers, and has authored two books: The Drummer’s Odyssey and The Field Manual for the Church Drummer. He currently teaches over 70 students each week and has collaborated with respected international drummers. AJ’s approach is structured and insightful, focusing on building a strong technical foundation and musical understanding. He is endorsed by Bosphorus Cymbals and Vic Firth Drumsticks, a testament to his standing in the drumming community.
