Piano Lesson in Bristol
Get Piano Lessons in Bristol
We provide both private and small group piano lessons at Firebird Studios. First and foremost you have to enjoy playing and be inspired to practice and we strive to create that with the lessons we teach. The lessons are fun, informative and can range from 30 minutes to 1 hour, or longer if you have the stamina!
Rockschool grades
If you’re looking to work towards graded piano exams, then we recommend RSL Awards’ Rockschool program. It is the pre-eminent course for people studying Pop and Rock music. They range from Entry all the way to Grade 8 and can be counted towards your UCAS points once you reach grade 6 and beyond.
As an RSL Awards examination centre, you’ll be studying in the very place that you’ll take your exam. Hopefully lessening those exam nerves!

Meet the Teacher
Our keyboard tutor Dorian is a graduate from Birmingham Conservatoire’s Jazz BMus, holding an additional BTEC in Jazz from Leeds College of Music. Dorian has 10 years of teaching experience, with students from ages 4-70+. He is passionate about making lessons as fun and engaging as possible, helping give students the motivation to practice enjoyably at home. His excellent ear gives him the ability to quickly understand how a student learns and help them progress on their terms.
When not teaching he can be found playing with many of Bristol’s top jazz, soul, funk and reggae musicians; he is involved in many interesting and original projects, including Camo Clave, Solomon O.B & Sankofa 3, DeCyphers, Madly (Forth & Back) and James Paton. Dorian’s main project is Birmingham based Antelope, a band playing a unique crossover of Jazz, Pop and Soul for which he writes all the music. He also runs his own function supergroup Soulsters, featuring top Bristol musicians (including SMC guitar tutor Alun).
