Meet Your Teacher: Garrick, Saxophonist & Sound Explorer
Garrick is a classically trained saxophonist (Grade 8 ABRSM) with nearly two decades of experience performing on alto and tenor saxophone across jazz, funk, big band, and wind band settings. His musical journey has taken him from the structured world of classical performance to the fluid, expressive realms of free improvisation and experimental sound.
He holds a BA in Music Technology from the University of Kent and an MA in Music Therapy with Distinction from UWE Bristol. This background gives him a deep understanding of how music can be used as a powerful expressive and therapeutic medium.
Garrick’s own creative work, under the name Breachlight, explores rich electroacoustic and ambient soundscapes, reflecting his interest in texture, atmosphere, and the emotional potential of sound. This artistic sensibility informs his teaching, encouraging students to see the saxophone not just as an instrument, but as a tool for personal expression.
His lessons are fun, informative, and available as private 30-minute or 1-hour sessions. He welcomes students of all ages and abilities and is committed to making saxophone tuition an inspiring and enjoyable experience.

The RSL Rockschool syllabus is ideal for those interested in pop, rock, and contemporary styles, with grades from Entry Level to Grade 8. Achieving Grade 6 or above also contributes to UCAS points, which can support further education applications.
